I L Y - I'm Leaving You R31
The high point of the round was oop. It's all downhill from there.
I went to random this round and landed with Zedijar's pack (Zed, Slice, Sommar, Disco, Golrath), a duo group of Wurstmeyer and Damdred, as well as Crazy Elf, Rush (not that one, the 2008 one), and MasterYoda as the other randomers. There's another duo of Danimoth and TerryPie, but they never joined realm chat or respond to council, so fuck em.
I picked gnome because I happened to stumble on some nice looking numbers while messing around with sims, and playt0i helped me to make it better, so I had some hope about the round at the start. Little did I know that the odds would quickly stack against me. Oop was chaotic. The bots are bugged and you can't take any info on them. A player (I think) happened to come out on land dp by mistake and was quickly jumped on by others like flies all over a fresh dung. Right of the bat, we got someone locked. Only took a whooping eleven minutes or so. Everything was fixed after an emergency maintenance and I was able to make four hits and got like 180 acres. I suppose it was pretty good.
The early days were brutal, to say the least. There were a lot of fast attackers, probably more than previous rounds, and those who fed one ended up feeding the rest. Ask Damdred about it, poor lad ended up quitting early.
My growth was decent at first, but it quickly became stagnant due to the nature of the unit prices. At first you're ore capped, and for most of the round, you're stuck being plat capped. At first I was able to make hits on lower dp just by waiting the guys in my top range to send first, but once I joined the traffic jam around midround, it became increasingly depressing. Around week two, most of the fast bois already dead as usual, most notably realm 4 and 6 after their spectacular error that allowed 11 to pretty much seize the round from that point. Somewhere around this time, Wurst got screwed by someone feeding the top op (#11 liz, Nate) which in turned allowed #4 spirit (Erix) to hit him. This happened twice, so it's clearly collusion.
Wurst then turned suicidal (his dom, not the person) and would later having his personal battle with Erix throughout the round, trading hits each other until they decided to tie it at 9-9 each. Pretty impressive for both of them.
This was where the round got weird. The way to be safe was by being big enough so that even if your top range hit you, they'd end up entering the top op range and got whacked. There was a constant need to check on how much other people would gain from hitting you, and I've seen larger doms being safe on their hits while having less dp than me. It's pretty wack. I got hit by #3 nox on one occasion I didn't properly calculated his gain, and that was the start of my round being doomed.
Something else worth mentioning was #10 goblin (SlyD), who's looking pretty good at that point, made a spectacular back to back bounces on 9 hour span.
Well, actually things were started looking a little brighter at some point, but that's when the round decided to kick my dom in the balls. With a possible 5k finish in sight, I was then got hit by #5 human (Templeman) despite once again having a higher dp than other doms who were out. This time, the mountains were the major factor as they're the most preferred land type late game. What's so bad about the hit was that it took out a lot of my dp which allowed #1 human to follow up by sending some of his knights. All of this happened right as I was about to sleep and I felt pretty shitty about it. Thanks a lot guys.
Meanwhile, Crazy Elf went crazy to live up to his name and started suiciding around. He got farmed so hard on multiple occasions that his some of his realmies (me included) wished he was in a different realm lol.
All that left for me to do from there was to aim for some meme number finish and rounded up my networth. It was a shitty round for me to say the least, but at least I learned something, like, to stay the fuck away from mountain races in a real round.
I actually ended up writing a lot more than what I expected. As usual thanks to my realmies for all the help with ops and such, and thanks for reading. This will be my last round as I'm leaving you.
Not.
(That's just a play on my dom name by the way.)
