A Karate Koi R28

Tl;dr: A noob got buttfucked by meta changes, had a quite depressing round, and ranted about it.

I went random this round so I could land with different people. There were two packs in the realm, one consisted of AJJ, TheThing, Templeman, Jakool, and another with Unfather, Margoose, MeeSax, Afganu. The lineup was completed by another randomer, Crazy Elf. The guys in the realm took Unfather's dom name, Kickboxing Guinea Pig, as inspiration of the realm's theme, and we decided to mix martial arts with pet animals, as well as adding an 'a' in front of the names.

The round kinda went horribad for me due to a combination of various things, so I'm not so motivated to write about it. Instead, I'll mostly just list the significant mistakes that I made so you all can see how much of a noob I am.

So, straight at OOP, I got rekt. Twice. I wasn't really able to consult my sim as people were busy in protection, and it turned out I had a low-ish dp at the start. This was then made worse by me training spec dp, which ate my draftees faster, resulting in further dp drop that allowed #5 merfolk, O-Ren Ishii, to draw the first blood. Furthermore, the hit reduced my dp some more, which made me ate another hit from #4 Halfling, Six Rounds, Too long, Don't care (who sent some of his MTs to break me). It was the best OOP ever /s

The silver lining was that I made three hits, so it wasn't all that bad, probably.

At day 4 or so (I didn't bother to make round notes like other people, and only writing this based on what I remember), I was lining up to hit the real Toss My Salad #11 (there's a fake one in #15), only to saw him getting hit by the realmie who only got on discord to ask for ops help. Fortunately, the target was 90% my size so I was still able to hit him, only getting 8 less acres or so.

Shortly after, realm 5 declared war on us. It turned out they were snaring AJJ (Capybara), although he was able to cast his spells because I notified my realmies quick enough in discord. We then sunk the lycanthrope, Marsellus Wallace to prevent him from hitting AJJ, forcing him to bottomfed a bot to save his boats. This was the highlight of my round.

Things were starting to look slightly brighter for me after a while, then I died. Again.

I checked more than 10 people with highest networth in my range and saw that I was safe, so I hit a bot. The next tick I got hit by #15 gnome, (fake) Beta, who didn't have a noticeable networth at that time (he was at like, 20th or so on the list), which started the downfall of my round. From there it's all depressing times, seeing all the converters emerging, building up their ops while I can barely keep up with them. As TheThing described it: "You're not safe, but you can't train dp fast enough to become safe." As if it's not bad enough, even the smallest bots in my range had high dps, so I was constantly squashed by the constant lack of dp AND op.

At some point I was losing my motivation and stopped paying attention to my top op, so I overlooked that #6 icekin, Frosty the doucheman, had took the second ares tech, which allowed him to hit me all in without ares call... it was a close call too, as I saw the failed revelation attempt when I refreshed my page, but by the time I casted ares, the attack was already through. Yay. I entered "fuck it" mode, knowing that my round is doomed anyways, and just made a few hits knowing I can't send safely. Somehow I made it close to 4k acres finish with the daily land bonuses, so I bottomfed an inactive dom and explored 20 acres to get a somewhat decent finish to this depressing round.

I'd like to thank my realmies for the advices and ops helps, but most importantly, for making this shitty round somewhat bearable. Thank you for reading as well.

The first time I started OD, I randomly picked Spirit. The next round, I went with my pack's recommendation to play Merfolk. These coincidences gave me an idea to make a hidden message which made me played Dwarf this round. This message was made by taking the first letter of the races I played in non beta round so far, and dedicated especially to the people who hit me this round: SMD.
