	I have played in a number of very solid realms, and this was up there with any of them. The attitudes of everyone seemed to be figuring out how they could help, and what gave us the best shot. So much of the round was not mentioned above, specifically the constant scouting of an amazing ops team who found the majority of targets as well as threats. Rush2008 led with the most bounties. Zedijar kept eyes on the top offense so we knew how much defense was needed to move into top range. Candarius would often clear ops before we posted them in the discord thread and was in for all the assassination plans. Kale made great use of his troops after deconverting, and participated in the key wonder attacks and assassinations. Hyt33 would constantly clear the ops board, and stayed up very late to make one of the last hits happen. Jmerc ran our highest ratios for much of the round and got many of the hardest ops. Chunk and Dave were our leading early round attackers, and absorbed much of the damage from 6 in both wars. They then switched to pushing high offenses to clear the path forward. Ivetza made a late round push with high mods to be able to threaten 5:4 against anyone that would hit us and was ready to suicide or raze as needed. It was an active group on discord, and there was no drama. Thank you guys for a great round, no we we would have done it without the contributions of everyone. 	I didn't chase any ranks this round, it was all for the war effort, and so ended up with none. That's dedication to the cause baby. I finished ~~26th~~ on 6,166 land. Out of our entire draft pack, I was one of only two players that didn't eat a hit this round. The other was Adam, our MVP in the early wars and new to OD. One to watch for future rounds I reckon. 	There's may be a lot of snark in this roundfail, but I had a blast this round. The whole realm was fantastic fun to play with, very active, great banter and (mostly) worked well together. Team Cerby drafted a risky team and I commend him for it: there are lots of draft captains that would never dare - myself included. I would absolutely not be building a glass cannon blops team if I was a team captain! I've played this exact scenario many times and while it's a lot of fun, it is so hard to win with in the current blops climate in OD. Your glass cannon is fragile, and you also piss some of the more sensitive players off in the process - who then spend all round campaigning in the discord that you're terrible ~~because - oh no - you affected them~~ (lookin' at you Jboy), which can be a total drag. We also had the added hurdle of the random intervention by the RC mid-round to contend with, which hurt us a lot.		There's may be a lot of snark in this roundfail, but I had a blast this round. The whole realm was fantastic fun to play with, very active, great banter and (mostly) worked well together. We also had the added hurdle of the random intervention by the RC mid-round to contend with, which hurt us a lot.

			But we were a bright, flashy realm, injecting some much-needed chaos into the game. And if you ask realm #10, we were certainly the most impactful realm all round. Haha.

	We also got to see who was the best combat blopper, after discovering Rio had been hiding in our midst all round - meaning we can directly compare his fireball damage with Jota's, as both were running Dark Elf builds. And turns out, it's Jota! Despite Rio being the first to flight test the playstyle, Jota had beaten him at his own craft, killing 69% more peasants with fireballs. Nice. The only person from our draft pack who did not participate in the theme was Vegan, who named himself after an anime girl instead. It would later become apparent from a sudden wall of text from Vegan that this wasn't really intended as a joke, but actually an expression of sympathy towards what he believed was a misunderstood dictator. So it's draft round time, and due to recent development I didn't really feel like joining the draft. I did have a reservation of going solo since last time placement fucked me hard. In the end I thought the same shit couldn't happen to the same guy twice, right? So I went randoming, and lo and behold, placement fucked me hard. Again.

The moment I checked the realm page for the first time, I thought I was in the non discord realm (there's actually none this round). I saw the man and the legend, Elf Woods. Then there were three fresh accounts, and one account whose track records were just a few rounds in tester, ranging from 250-500+ acres. It's even questionable if the dude actually played the game instead of just being a spy. There were a couple of unshared names at the start and the ones I recognized fell into the category of casuals. Just like that, I think it's safe to say that my round was already over on fucking day 0.

It's fucking ridiculous.

For a nobody that never even got close to top 10, who only had activity as his redeeming quality, I kept getting shafted again and again by placement as if I'm a serial winner. Calling the system collusion felt more like a fact now rather than memeing. Last draft round felt like one of the worst placement I've ever had and this one might even top it. Old system, new system, same fucking difference. It's fine that the community got to have fun with the draft round, but those who opted out shouldn't get punished for it.

End of rant, for now. There might be more as the round progress...

I went with sylvan again, having already played it last round, since the realm didn't look reliable for support with only about half of them showing up in the realm chat. More did show up near oop but it didn't look like it's going to be an active realm regardless. We couldn't even decide on a theme so I went with a Japanese racehorse name.

OOP was a mess. I planned for 2 85% hits and 3 80%. My first 2 hits got sniped first as I was about to hit them, resulting in smaller gain. Then all the smaller bots were gone so fast I ended up not having enough op to make 5 hits, so I decided to just take a bigger one for the 4th. I was reminded why I dislike starting small. Give me the next round already.

So... realm 6 warred us to snare Oment for no clear reason apart from feeding it to #9 liz. Oment was prepared to abandon but the Rule Committee intervened and allowed him to cast his ares.

Naturally, this didn't go well with the dommunity. And here I thought live in a ghetto would be pretty boring for the whole round.

Soo... somehow I managed to reach 6k despite the odds, and without getting hit for a change (the other rounds where I reached 6k I got hit multiple times lol). Given how things were at the start, I felt like even finishing the round was already a feat on its own since I kinda considered abandoning on placement day and after oop.

Special thanks to Oment who's keeping watch on top op and such. Had you abandoned from the snaregate incident, I probably would have followed as well lol. Also thanks to the other realmies who helped with ops and raids.

			To address the elephant in the room: I viewed and view #6's snare on me with intent of getting me hit by #9 Hussar / Weaser as breaking the rules, an opinion I've held for several rounds at least. I alerted RC, the rest is history.

			Modern snare has two common modes: make someone hittable or make someone unable to hit. Knocking off economic self-spells is rarely used. Given I was neither smallest of the ones chasing Hussar, nor did I have top OP of said pack, denying a hit made zero sense. Bots were over 12 hours out from range, and Mithravioli in #11 / Erix was ~25k OP ahead though 10k DP behind. (Centaurs having 2pt turtle forced more DP out of me.)

			A deflection play was an option I considered slightly belatedly, though still same tick as the war declaration. However, #6 Kobold was not vulnerable. We already knew #6 DE was not vulnerable from ops taken earlier that day, provided Ares remained up. As #9 was at this point stuck in a war with #3 after failing to snare Marie built Curie-ously on Becquerel's work / B, that was easy for the DE.

			As per the good coke-addicted detective: "Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth." And what remained was a snare to try and feed me to Hussar.

			== Math ==

			One common thread out of the Discord was to liberalise this use of snare for the future. So let's do some combinatorics.

			Assuming the defender has half the spy ratio of a dedicated snaring pack of 5, the snaring pack is nearly 90 % to cap the target's WS at 0 under non-draft round snare rules, from full. This is 3 ticks of spells off guaranteed unless the target has more than 0.9 % Wizard Strength recovery. (Meaning 450 Mastery, a recovery tech, or being Demon as of round 49.) The pack also recovers a minimum of 12 snares in those three ticks, which will extend the snare another hour with high probability (~96 % at 0 extra recovery from target), even with the target having Illumination active. Thus, a dedicated snaring pack can and likely should be able to snare a single dominion for ticks, provided the defender has half the spy ratio of the attackers.

			As this is from full strength, the defender also did not use Wizard Strength in recent hours for other purposes. (E.g. other self-spells or target searching.) Actively engaging in those at the 'wrong' time likely pushes the breaking points back another hour. However, as this is very dependent on actual behaviour, it is harder to uniformly math out, and as such is not included in this blurb.

			== Implications ==

			There are, as always, solutions to being a snare target. Here, there are three options. One of the three will suffice.
			* Run enough DP to be unhittable with your Ares off. For attackers, this means running sufficiently strong turtle. At time of the snare mentioned in the first section, this pretty much was only Mithravioli with #7 Top Birthday Candle Extinguisher / Internetfett right on the bubble. Both were Merfolks with 4 OP / 2 DP Kraken for turtle and a small amount of spec O.
			* Recast Ares every 7 (13 with Amplify Magic) hours while also running at least but preferably over 50 % SPA of the dedicated to snaring pack with the highest SPA. Possibly every 6 or 12 hours depending on other factors.
			* Grow out of range of the snaring packs.

			It is left up to the reader whether these solutions are reasonable.
